Nowadays, CD image files have become extremely popular. That's because the size of hard disks got higher while their price got down, thus storing a lot of CD discs on it isn't a problem. Furthermore, having an image of the CD will make sure that all the information will remain intact, away from scratches and corruption. Besides that, files and folders stored inside an image file are much faster to read and access than if they were on an actual disc. Unfortunately, the Windows operating system doesn't have a feature for creating image files, nor for reading data from image files. A solution would be using a 3rd party application that can manage image files, like WinISO Standard. Despite its name, the program doesn't support only the ISO format, it can also manage a lot more other formats.

WinISO Standard installs in a flash and requires only a few clicks for this. Furthermore, it supports most versions of the Windows operating system and takes up little hard disk space.

The interface of the program seems a bit crowded at first sight. That's because of the large number of options available. Spending a few moments with the program will soon fix this problem. WinISO Standard can create image files from any file and folder stored on the hard disk. The list of image formats supported covers all the well known formats available today. WinISO Standard does not only create image files from files and folders, its functionality goes beyond this. It can also save CD and DVD discs as image files and can convert image files from one format to another.

The contents of image files can be easily viewed and managed using a virtual CD drive. Thus, any image file can be accessed as if it were an actual CD disc. Images can also be burned on blank discs.

Pros

The program supports a large number of image file formats. It can convert them from one format to another and allows the user to browse their contents just like browsing a real CD. Furthermore, any CD or DVD can be saved as an image file, for safe keeping.

Cons

The interface requires some time for getting used to it and getting familiar with all its options. WinISO Standard is a complete solution for managing any CD or DVD image file.
